Annual Gathering 2014 will explore the intersection of ethics and spiritual practice, justice and prayer.
Although our giving is based in the desire to ‘do good’, it may also been meshed in the desire to justify ourselves and exercise a form of control over those we perceive to be ‘in need’. Sarah will explore how spiritual practice might free us from compulsions of noble self sacrifice and move us to delight in being simply human. The ethical awareness that emerges comes from a deep sense of shared humanity which is liberating for both self and other.
Sarah presented these ideas to a captivated audience at “The Edge of the Sacred Conference” held recently in Alice Springs. Sarah weaves scholarship, personal experience and a rich diversity of writers into presentations that reflect her contemplative practice, pastoral experience and academic research. You will be inspired, challenged and stimulated by this wonderful address and the conversations that follow.
